About the Traffic Unit
The Milledgeville Police Department Traffic Unit is a specialized component of the Uniformed Patrol Division dedicated to promoting roadway safety throughout the city. Traffic Unit officers focus on enforcement, education, and crash investigation to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities.
Responsibilities
- Enforcing Georgia motor vehicle laws and local traffic ordinances
- DUI detection, enforcement, and standardized field sobriety testing
- Speed enforcement, including school zone and construction zone operations
- Traffic crash investigation and scene documentation
- Fatal and serious-injury crash reconstruction
- Directing and managing traffic during special events and emergencies
- Coordinating with GDOT on traffic safety initiatives
School Zone Enforcement
