About the Program
The Milledgeville Police Department's Neighborhood Watch program empowers residents to actively participate in the safety of their community. By working together with MPD, neighborhood groups can reduce crime and improve quality of life in their blocks and subdivisions.
Neighborhood Watch is one of the most effective crime prevention tools available, relying on residents being observant, communicating with their neighbors, and reporting suspicious activity to police.
How It Works
- Residents form a group and select a block captain or coordinator
- MPD provides free training on crime awareness and prevention
- Participants look out for unusual activity in their neighborhoods
- Suspicious activity is reported to MPD (never confronted directly)
- Regular meetings keep the group informed and connected
